One-click electromagnetism at the nanoscale
The ratio |E|²/|E₀|² of the local field intensity to that of the incident light. Near a plasmonic sphere it reaches tens at the poles along the polarization; in narrow gaps between particles it reaches thousands (see the dimer calculator).
For a small metal sphere, at its surface along the polarization direction (two lobes). Larger and dielectric particles show richer patterns: magnetic-dipole fields inside silicon or TiO₂ spheres, and a focused photonic nanojet behind microspheres.
Yes: the map covers inside and outside, with the exact internal field of the sphere or of each shell.
From the exact Mie series, with enough multipole orders for convergence right up to the surface; zooming in recomputes the field at the new resolution.
The field around and inside a sphere or core–shell particle, from exact Mie theory, in one click.
