Dimer heating

Questions & answers

Do two nanoparticles heat each other?

Yes, in two ways: optically (coupling changes how much each absorbs) and thermally (each sits in the other's warm surroundings). The calculator includes both.

How does the gap change the temperature?

Closer particles couple more strongly, so absorption at the coupled resonance changes, and their heat adds up more.

Is it exact?

The optics is exact (coupled multipoles); the heat conduction is solved for the two spheres in the medium.
